New York for Families Families who visit New York for more than two or three days will feel comfortable in Uptown, either in the Upper East Side or in the Upper West Side. Most of New York's families that want to live in the city choose to live in these two neighborhoods, close to the best private and public schools in Manhattan. As a result, the area is suitable for families and you will find a fitting surrounding for a holiday with children with numerous attractions and playgrounds. In addition, these areas are less commercial and more quiet compared to Midtown or Downtown. Our tips: Museum Mile / the museum avenue – at Upper East 5th Avenue, from 79th Street to 103rd Street: the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Jewish Museum, the Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, the Museum of the City of New York. The American Museum of Natural History – Upper West Side, Central Park and 79th Street. The museum offers many activities for children. A restaurant for the entire family: Tony's Di Napoli, Upper East Side. Café: Le Pain Quotidian, Upper East Side. Excellent ice cream at 16 Handles, Upper East Side. Taking a break in Central Park | © NYC & Company Recommended properties for Families New York for Young People Young people will enjoy a visit to Hell's Kitchen or Gramercy Park. Each area has its own uniqueness, but what they have in common is their central location at walking distance from many places of entertainment and good restaurants. The two neighborhoods are vibrant, lively and noisy. In the Hell's Kitchen area we recommend a walk to Times Square and watching a show on Broadway. Also, a horseback ride in Central Park might be very interesting and romantic. If you are in for some fancy shopping, you will have a great time at Columbus Circle or go down South to 34th Street where you will find Macy's Department Store. Take a stroll up the High Line, the repurposed railway track, where an authentic park with stunning views has been created, stretching from the Meatpacking District, through Chelsea to West Village. You certainly should enter Chelsea Market and walk through the small streets. Biking fans may want to take a ride along the West Side Highway. If you choose to stay in Gramercy Park, you will enjoy a walk to Union Square and SoHo for some excellent shopping in the brand and designer stores.
